i recently participated in the strumpet’s crumpets valentine craft swap. my craft swap partner polly sent me cute button hairpins and a handmade heart pouch, filled with adorable knitted hearts and some chocolate too :) she included tutorials on how to make the pouch and knitted hearts on her blog, so be sure to check them out!

i made polly a pair of my new fingerless gloves, a pattern that i worked on for a few christmas gifts. i really like the new gloves b/c they’re thicker and longer than my previous pattern, and have more of a chunky/slouchy feel to them, which i like. i’m hoping to make a pair for myself soon, after i finish a few orders. i recently learned how to crochet hearts, so those are a fun addition as well :)

snowpocalypse 2011. these photos were taken yesterday (feb. 1st), and i’m pretty positive today will be the same routine :)

the chicagoland weather has been kind enough to give me a day and a half off of work! so i’m finally able to post an update. since last time:

• i went to las vegas with the family and got some really great photos. ate good food, had fun, and lost a bit of money, lol.
• the jersey shore invaded halloween in wisconsin! and yes, i dressed up as snooki. my friend ryan’s aunt throws these amazing halloween parties on her pig farm, complete with a haunted silo, and a haunted hayride. (i almost lost it when michael myers was chasing after us.)
• i was able to have a nice staycation in rockford following thanksgiving, which was wonderful. mostly watched tv with the rents and crocheted :)
• two of my best friends got MARRIED! i was so happy to be a part of their amazing day. it was the most fun i’ve had in a very long time. 
• christmas was wonderful. my family was super generous as usual, and i got amazing gifts, like this camera bag i’ve had my eye on forever. gorgeous. 
• i am still a crocheting machine! i made a ton of crochet gifts for my sister and friends for christmas. i tried out cowls for the first time, and made new versions of my fingerless gloves. hoping to get those listed on etsy while the weather is still chilly. which it will be for a while around here.
• had a nice relaxing new years with friends :)
• sarah and i FINALLY GOT IPHONES! yes, we’re 3+ years late to the party, but we’re still pretty excited. i’ve already downloaded a crazy amount of camera apps…it’s so fun.

so that’s the quick recap. 2011 is already shaping up to be an interesting year. a lot of good and bad things have happened already and it’s only february. i’m hoping the bad things are done now and the good thing keep on coming. i think it will be an amazing year.

the past few days have been the most amazing and the most fun that i can remember! i had an amazing birthday on thursday…my family got me incredible gifts, my close friends joined me for a great dinner, and chester gifted me with….an IPAD!!! and that was just on thursday. on friday, chester took me out to a fancy dinner…he’s such a sweetheart! i’m a lucky lady :) then, the big event took place on saturday, when my family and friends joined me in cheering on the manic attackers at the windy city rollers bout 6 down at UIC Pavilion. it was a close bout, but the manic attackers came away with a win over the hell’s belles in the last few minutes! it was very exciting, mostly because this was the first time seeing my good friend coty (notorious D.I.E.) skate as a manic attacker. she was awesome! following the win, we all headed over to bottom lounge for the derby after party. it was my first time there and i had a blast. they had this “action booth” set up for amazing jump shots, and we took full advantage of the opportunity. the night was followed up by a relaxing sunday at chester’s place, soaking up a bit of sun with our first 86 degree day of the year. oh yea, and we all watched the blackhawks sweep the sharks on their way to the stanley cup finals!

i feel so lucky to have such a wonderful family, an incredible boyfriend, and the best friends anyone could ask for!

did i mention that it’s been an amazing few days? :D

after getting some new lighting equipment and more felt rosettes made, i finally updated my etsy shop, “opposite day” shop. i’m still going to add my fortune cookie cards, probably tomorrow. stay tuned and spread the word please! :)
